Diversity Support

The Florida Education Fund (FEF) awards McKnight Doctoral Fellowships to African-American and Hispanic students newly admitted into selected doctoral degree programs at universities in the state.  The stipend support for McKnight Fellows in the BMS will be supplemented with College funds so that the total stipend matches the BMS stipend.  In addition, the McKnight Fellowship pays the student fees each semester for up to 5 years.  For further information and application forms, follow the MDF link above.  McKnight Doctoral Fellowship applications can also be obtained from the UF Office of Graduate Diversity Initiatives.  The application deadline is January 15.

The UF-FAMU Feeder Fellowship The Florida A&M University (FAMU) Feeder Fellowship affords FAMU students the opportunity to receive advanced study in graduate programs not available at FAMU. UF is one of more than 40 universities in the FAMU Feeder Program aimed at increasing the number of FAMU students in graduate programs. UF offers five fellowships every year to qualified FAMU Feeder students who have been admitted to a Ph.D. or a terminal MFA degree program. Each fellow receives a stipend, in-state tuition, fee waiver and health insurance for up to 5 years for a Ph.D. and up to 3 years for a terminal MFA degree.

The Board of Education (BOE) Summer Fellowship The Office of Graduate Diversity Initiatives selects a cohort of newly enrolled underrepresented Ph.D. students each summer to participate in the six-week BOE summer fellowship program. BOE is designed as an orientation to graduate education and promotes acclimation to the University of Florida. The BOE program also provides financial and academic support, including a stipend to assist with the transition to Gainesville and paid in-state tuition to the students admitted department.

The College of Medicine Office of Diversity & Health Equity assists in the recruitment and retention of students whose ethnic/racial groups are underrepresented in medicine (URM).  We strive to educate prospective URM students on their opportunities and spark their interest in medical school, the BMS, and the PA program.
