While the program does not offer application fee waivers, the University of Florida application fee is a modest $30.
I am an international student who has earned a degree from an an institution where English is the official language. Do I need to submit language scores?
Applicants may be waived from the language score requirement, if their uploaded transcripts clearly identify that the sole language of instruction was English. Applicants are encouraged to contact the program if they are unsure whether they are exempt.
Should I have a mentor identified prior to applying?
Applicants do not need to have mentor(s) identified prior to applying, as students choose a mentor after completion of rotations in their first year. However, students are strongly encouraged to explore the Faculty Database to identify mentors they may be interested in working with and to ensure the program offers opportunities for your areas of research.
How are students financially supported?
All admitted and matriculated BMS students (both domestic and international students) will be appointed as a Graduate Research Assistant. The current BMS stipend is $37,000 annually. In addition to the stipend, all tuition and fees are covered (tuition waiver). The stipend is intended to cover living expenses. Does BMS accept transfer students?
All applicants are required to apply for regular fall admission. Students who are currently in a PhD program are welcome to apply for regular admission, with the understanding that any transfers of credits are not guaranteed and cannot be determined until after a student is admitted and committed to a concentration.
Students who are accompanying a faculty member to the University of Florida, please reach out directly to the program for questions regarding the process.
